Philadelphia Phillies (#phillies)
Wednesday night Twitter was all about the Phillies and Houston Astros trade. Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) reported that that Astors have traded Starting Pitcher Roy Oswalt to the Phillies but were waiting for Oswalt to sign off on it. Oswalt has a no-trade clause in his contract which allows him to decline a trade.
ESPN.com baseball analyst, Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) reported there was a third team involved in the Oswalt trade but backed out. I see hiccups in the trade. Oswalt won't decline this trade coming from one of the worst teams in baseball to the 2nd place Phillies in the AL East.
MLB Trade Deadline (#trades)
According to Olney, the New York Yankees haven't traded starting pitcher Kei Igawa, because it would cost them a major chunk of their luxury tax. Igawa has been a bigger bust than Carl Pavano in New York.
Teams have asked the Baltimore Orioles about the availability of some of their players but according to a GM they are more concered about losing 115 games. If the Orioles were to trade away their roster there is no doubt they could loose 115 games.
ESPN The Magazine's Tim Kurkjian just reported that the Orioles have hired 2-time Manager of the Year Buck Showalter. His first game as manager of the last place AL East Orioles will be August 3rd.
